Färoöarna (Movements 1&2)

I composed this piece for a string quartet. The title is the Swedish name for the Faroe Islands off the coast of Norway. The music in the first movement reflects the occupation of most of the inhabitants who earn their living through fishing despite the frequent rains that torment the islands. The music shows the joy they have as they fish and row through sometimes stormy seas. The second movement expresses the energy involved in casting and reeling by the fishermen.
